Tentative Calendar for 2022 REU Academic Activities
Note: We expect REU participants to meet with mentors two times every week.
May
Wed. May 25th: REU arrival day.
Thursday May 26 2022 (morning): Introductory / Start REU meeting (10:00AM - noon). CSU tour scheduled.
Thursday May 26 2022 (afternoon): Initial meetings with mentors
May 27 2022: Introduction/Workshop on Mobile Computing and IoT (10:00AM - 12:00PM EST)
Introduction/Workshop on Cybersecurity (2:00PM EST - 4:00PM EST)
May 30th 2022: Federal Holiday
May 31st 2022: Talk on research in CS (10:00AM EST). In this talk we also mentioned about writing papers in CS and the different kinds of paper contributions/research that can be done in computer science/cybersecurity
Task on finding a paper and prepare a small presentation (take a look at https://web.stanford.edu/class/ee384m/Handouts/HowtoReadPaper.pdf)

June 3rd 2022: Full-workshop day on Deep Learning/Intro to AI (10:00AM EST)
June 9th 2022: Research Ethics/Human Subjects (10:00AM EST) / Take CITI Training.
June 10th 2022: Small presentation on chosen paper from previous week (11:30AM EST)
June 16th 2022: Research Presentation by Dr. Peker about Blockchain Technology
June 20th: Federal Holiday
June 23rd 2022: Mid-project Presentation (11:00AM EST)
June 30th 2022 : Talk about Graduate School (10:00AM EST)
July
July 4th 2022: Federal Holiday
July 7th 2022: Research talk on Facial Privacy
July 14th 2022: Talk about preparing posters
July 18th 2022: Scheduled talk
July 20st 2022: Start of last REU week. Students should prepare papers. Students should submit posters on Thursday to allow for printing and be ready by Monday.
July 22nd 2022: Scheduled talk
July 25th 2022: Poster presentations in Lobby of CSU
July 26th 2022: Final REU presentations. Students should prepare to travel and leave the REU the next day for those students traveling.
July 27th: REU students leave CSU.
July 23rd - July 30: Students should schedule a meeting with the external project evaluator.
